A visit at Cinderella’s

The Museum of Father Jerzy Popiełuszko in the basement of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Żoliborz. In the display case: the shirt, trousers and shoes that Father Jerzy was wearing at the time of his death. Also the tools of the crime: a militia baton, ropes and the stones that were tied to his legs before his body was thrown into the Vistula River.

From a warm stove in the village of Okopy Podlasie to the story: “We threw the body over the barrier to the river side, standing on the dam facing Włocławek.” The Żoliborz museum is a shocking tale about Cinderella – because that’s what the name “Popiełuszko” means in Belarusian.

In the church, there is one excursion after another, pilgrimage upon pilgrimage. Languages mix. Just as a young team from the U.S. is entering, people fall to their knees before a granite cross and whisper the words of the litany: “Sensitive to the plight of victims – pray for us. Good Shepherd of workers – pray for us. Teacher of conquering evil with good...”

Marcin Jakimowicz Urodził się w 1971 roku. W Dzień Dziecka. Skończył prawo na Uniwersytecie Śląskim. Od 2004 roku jest dziennikarzem „Gościa Niedzielnego”. W 1998 roku opublikował książkę „Radykalni” – poruszające wywiady z Tomaszem Budzyńskim, Darkiem Malejonkiem, Piotrem Żyżelewiczem i Grzegorzem Wacławem „Dzikim”. Wywiady ze znanymi muzykami rockowymi, którzy przeżyli nawrócenie i publicznie przyznawali się do wiary w Boga stały się rychło bestsellerem. Od tamtej pory wydał jeszcze kilkanaście innych książek o tematyce religijnej, m.in. zbiory wywiadów „Wyjście awaryjne” i „Ciemno, czyli jasno”.
